Can I Work Out on Keto?
CAN I WORKOUT IN KETO ? DO I NEED TO WORKOUT ON KETO? WILL IT BE MORE BENEFICIAL IF I DO KETO WHILE HITTING THE GYM?
Exercising is always a good idea. Period. And if you are doing it along with following a healthy diet, kudos to you!
Indulging in any physical activity gets your heart pumping and blesses you with the goodness of endorphins. It makes you active and boosts your mental and physical health.
Working out on keto allows you to adapt to the diet in a healthy and sustainable way. It encourages you to look beyond keto as just a diet and make long-lasting changes in your lifestyle. If you are wary of following a diet because of fear of loose skin, you will be relieved to know that exercising helps you to tone your body and avoid getting stretch marks as well. Moreover, it also helps you burn more glycogen and get rid of any carbohydrates in your muscles, thus pushing you into deep ketosis. Since keto is an adequate protein diet which has enough fats, you can also build some muscle. So, get those guns blaring!
If you have been working out even before starting keto stick to your plan. However, if you are new to both keto and the gym, it is better to start at home with a mix of low intensity exercises like yoga, body weight workouts using resistance bands etc. It is crucial to take it up gradually so that you do not overwhelm your body with too many new things at the same time.
It is also not recommended to take up a rigorous physical activity in the first few days on keto when your body is experiencing keto flu. The only thing you should be lifting during these days is your glass of lemon-salt water. I am not one to discourage you from breaking a sweat, but it is important you make sure that you are doing it right. So, do your research, find a workout that suits you and follow it safely.
